The racetrack refers to a section of the layout in roulette that displays the numbers as they appear on the wheel and lets punters set specific bets on groups of numbers in the game. It’s handy because otherwise, players would have to place individual chips on the numbers.

The racetrack is named for its layout. It appears oval-shaped and splits into two sections, i.e., the inside and the outside. The inside section is where you can place the call bets, while the outside is where you can place neighbour bets.

Roulette Racetrack Bets
There are 4 main betting options on a racetrack. These are the ‘call bets’. We’ll dive into what each means below:
Zero or Jeu Zero

Le Tiers du Cylindre is a bet always available on the racetrack. It can cover under 1/3 of the wheel and requires six chips for 12 numbers. All the 12 numbers lie opposite the zero. They include 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 16, 23, 24, 27, 30, 33 and 36.
Orphelins
The Orphelins or Les Orphelins bet covers numbers 1, 6, 9, 14, 17, 20, 31 and 34. They’re called ‘orphans’ because they are the numbers not covered by the other call bets and usually lie in the middle, while the Voisions (17, 34, & 6) appear on one side and Le Tiers du Cylindre (1, 9, 14, 20, & 31) on another.
Voisins du Zero
The Voisins du Zero covers numbers neighbouring the zero. It runs from 22 to 25 and covers 17 numbers, i.e., 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25. This bet has a 45.9% chance of winning.
What Are Call Bets?
Call bets are roulette bets made by calling out what they want to bet instead of placing chips on the table. They’re made via announcing your intentions, usually at high-stakes tables in physical casinos. You need to announce this type of bet so as to inform the dealer that it is the bet you want to place without having to manually cover the numbers on the layout.
